Portobello mushroom burger

Portobello is a great replacement steak for veggie burgers. This meaty and juicy veggie is perfect for burgers, whether you are vegetarian or otherwise. One Portobello mushroom has about 30 calories and no fat or cholesterol. Now that's a good reason to switch to a mushroom patty isn't it ?

What you'll need:

1 Portobello mushroom cap 2 tbsp olive oil 1 tsp balsamic vinegar Salt and pepper to taste 1 slice cheese (or cream cheese or vegan cheese) 1 tbsp mustard sauce (optional) 1 tsp minced garlic Dry herbs of your choice

How to:

Clean the mushroom cap and set it aside. In a small jar mix olive oil, balsamic vinegar, finely grated garlic, herbs and shake well. Marinate the mushroom in this mixture for about 15 minutes.

Preheat a grill (or a non-stick pan) on medium high heat.

Pour a little amount of oil and place the mushroom. Allow it to frill for 5-6 minutes on each side. Brush the mushroom with the marinated liquid every now and then. Top with cheese during the last 1 minute of grilling.

Grill the burger bun on both sides with a little butter. Spread the mustard sauce, tomatoes, grilled onions, cucumber, avocado, roasted bell pepper, salad leaves and place the grilled mushroom steak on top. Enjoy with some sauce and French fries.
